On this page I will collate all of the resources I have found useful over the years. I have a lot of bookmarks and notes to go through so this page will be regularly updated, and I will probably decide I’m unhappy with the layout and change it just as frequently.
Let’s start with my software recommendations. You can click each title for a more comprehensive write-up (coming soon).

If you are using Windows 10/11 and are wondering what the best antivirus to use is, use the built-in Windows Defender and ensure Windows is kept up-to-date.
To find and remove malware, use Malwarebytes. You can use the free premium trial, perform a deep scan, remove any malware and then uninstall the program after. I recommend reinstalling and repeating this monthly.
For monitoring network traffic and app network usage, use Glasswire. The free version is handy by itself and I would suggest purchasing the premium version to anybody who is serious about their online privacy and security, and for having complete control over your network traffic.
Photo and Video Editing
For photo editing, I would recommend Photoshop. If you do not have the resources for it, a little known nifty tool is Photopea. It offers similar functionality to Photoshop, absolutely free and within your browser. It is also worth mentioning GIMP and Paint.NET.
For video editing, I would highly recommend Hitfilm Express. If you have the resources or ability to source Sony Vegas Pro, go for this.
Website (including HTML and CSS)
For transferring files to and from your webserver, FileZilla is the program to use.
For free easy-to-design graphics for your website, use Canva. You can get copyright-free icons from FlatIcons.net. There are animations and other scripts available at Codrops. These CSS background patterns are useful.
DirtyMarkup Formatter cleans up your HTML, CSS and Javascript code. No longer do you need to be a perfectionist about your coding layout, simply paste it into DirtyMarkup and receive a beautified copy of your code, for free.
CodeMyUI has a range of animations, elements, snippets and more.
You can get copyright-free images at StockSnap.io.
If you run a charity or know somebody who does, you can get free web hosting for charities.
